UIC Mission Statement

We are dedicated to providing comprehensive family-centered health care to all children, multi-level professional education to students, physicians and allied health care workers in all aspects of pediatrics, and a voice of advocacy for children of the state of Illinois. We are also actively engaged in the community to improve the health status of children through preventative and educational efforts, and to lead with basic and clinical research into childhood diseases to move the field of pediatrics forward. Our diverse medical teams bring the world’s latest advancements to patient care, research, and teaching.

This is a 46-bed unit and we get birth up to about 24 year old patients, with all diagnoses. The majority of our patients are our oncology, transplant, and sickle cell anemia patients.

The hospital is located at:
1740 West Taylor St., Chicago, IL 60612

SAWPS coordinates with the Sunday School and UIC Pediatrics:
• Fleece Blankets: Members are asked to make fleece blankets which are distributed to the hospitalized children.
• Fulfill Christmas Wish List: A Christmas Wish List is created for the hospitalized children and their siblings. The Sunday School Children are asked to bring these gifts to church on the 1st Sunday of December. The collected gifts are taken to the hospital to be distributed to the children.
